The Allison hot trans indicator does not come on until 260 degrees! I don’t recommend running near that often of course, so do some homework on cooler planning, especially if you are towing in hot slow traffic (the worst condition to build trans heat). Coolant temp (190-210) isn’t bad at all, and many swaps run a bit cooler like 160-180 which seems fine too.
At least one customer used the large Derale cooler under the truck by itself, but the dependency on the fan is something I would avoid if possible.

The ultimate cooling system is probably the Derale as well as a coolant to fluid cooler in addition to that, or an air to fluid cooler that doesn’t depend on the fan in addition to that if you have room up front. Many Dodge pickups have coolant to fluid coolers and although the fittings and tube to them is a tad bit small, they work fine. Below is a coolant to fluid cooler that a customer used that has bigger fittings than the Dodge versions.

If you have room in front of the grille for something 2″ thick, there are cheap coolers on ebay. I used one with these dimensions on my 5 speed truck and it does fine in my climate with minimal towing :
13.00″ x 10.25″ x 2.00″
Otherwise, if you are shopping for something other that what I have mentioned, look for something that has -12 AN (3/4″) or -10 AN (5/8″) fittings. 1/2″ lines are the minimum.
